Morning
It is the final Sunday of the year, the 52nd Sunday to be exact. I’m spending the day alone, like I wanted to. Reflecting on the year that has come to pass. The last few weeks have been joy filled. Gifts were given, gifts were received, but more importantly, time was spent in good company. Lucie and I walked 40 minutes together this morning- I can tell when she’s ready to loop back home when her pace has slowed down to a leisurely one, and she stops less to sniff. Today she scared one cat and let the pigeons off the hook.
Early Afternoon
Drinking a hot matcha and eating two cookies. One is a Linzer (I think these might be my current favorite), the other is a tea cookie. For breakfast, I had a glass of orange juice and two jammy eggs with Maldon salt, dill, and a side of avocado with olive oil. Dinner tonight will be my leftovers from last night’s “Christmas Dinner,” my aunt hosted on December 27th. She and my uncle gifted me my first tennis bracelet, which has a string of hearts together joined together.
Two recent meals I’m still thinking about are:
-Brunch at Sophia’s
-Burger from Stoop Kid
Ghosts
I see ghosts all the time. Last week, I saw a ghost walk by the front of my job in the light of day. In my perfect world, I only see angels, but in this one, I have had to encounter ghosts from afar. I’ll count my blessings and be thankful for not having to communicate with a ghost directly. I’m researching methods to reduce the frequency of this occurrence. I keep believing I’ve shed all the skin I had left. There’s a lesson to learn here somewhere. In the last few days of this year, I will talk to God and beg to have mercy on me. Please God, may I never see these ghosts with my eyes awake or with my eyes closed. May they be free and well and released from me forever. I never want to see a ghost again.
As seasoned readers know, one of my favorite things to do is watch a movie. To be immersed in a world created by someone else for my eyes.
Go to movie snacks: [depending on the mood]
Kid’s meal: small popcorn, fruit snacks, Dr. Pepper, side of pickled jalapenos
Nachos with a small cherry Slurpee
This year, I’ve seen over ten movies at the movie theater, roughly once a month. To my delight, Megan agreed to see a movie with me on Christmas Day. We saw Marty Supreme, and it was fantastic. We were on the edge of our seats with anticipation, scene after scene. The film gave me the sense of unabashed confidence that you can only have by being 23 years old. I think it would be wise to watch it at the start of every month, to keep my ambitions in check. Dream BIG!
I can proudly say that I completed the first trimester of my master’s program. This Saturday, classes begin again. Let the games begin! For the last three weeks, I have been a free bird flying wherever the wind decided to take me, and it has been bliss.
What I’m bringing into 2026:
laying on my acupressure mat before bed
calling instead of texting
taking my contacts out every night (lol)
getting the h3ll off my phone!
reading for leisure (as much as I can with school)
hot baths
listening to CDs
making 1 recipe a week (this is ambitious)
handwritten letters
spying on birds with my new binoculars
I didn’t read as many books this year as I did last year, but I did complete a few. That’s enough for me. I finished the following:
⋆𖦹 。BOOKS I READ IN 2025⋆𖦹 °
Don’t Believe Everything You Think - Jon Nguyen
Blue Sisters - Coco Mellors
Before the Coffee Gets Cold - Toshikazu Kaeaguchi
Women - Chloé Caldwell
The Hole - Hiroko Oyamada
Good Material - Dolly Alderton
If you’re reading this, thank you. Thank you for reading the words I string together in hopes of remembering. Wishing you a new year filled with all of the ambitions on your heart coming to fruition.
I’m going to take a hot bath and relish in a myriad of memories over the last year. The good, the bad, and the freaky!
We’ll talk soon, I promise.
Yours,
B★
